Twin Elk Lodge

Written by Tucker Zimmerman, Summit County Realtor with Slifer Smith & Frampton.

Twin Elk Lodge does something most Breckenridge condos cannot: it puts you on the ski trail and within a few blocks of Main Street at the same time, in a home that lives like a townhome instead of a hotel room. It sits just off Ski Hill Road in the Snowflake area, four low buildings around a central lot. You can ski in on the Four O'Clock run and the Skyway Skiway within about a block, and the town shuttle stops steps away for the days you would rather ride.

These are two and three-bedroom floor plans with real square footage, most with a one-car garage, built in the late 1990s and solid. The amenities are modest by design, a shared clubhouse and a hot tub, so if you want a pool and a front desk this is not the building. What you are buying instead is space, a garage, and a genuine ski-in location a short walk from town, which is a rare mix at this size. It is a small community and units do not come up often, so when the right one lists it is worth moving on.

The basics

Homes 2 and 3-bedroom townhome-style condos
Size Roughly 900 to 1,400 square feet
Built Late 1990s
Ski access Ski in via Four O'Clock and the Skyway Skiway, a block away
Amenities Clubhouse and common hot tub, one-car garages

The upper end here reaches into Breckenridge luxury territory for a ski-in townhome, so if you are weighing Twin Elk against larger ski-access homes it helps to see where it lands in the wider Breckenridge luxury picture. For most buyers, though, the appeal is simpler than that: it is a place you can actually ski home to and still walk to dinner.

A ski-in home this close to Main Street rents well, but do not assume it from an old listing. Breckenridge and the county license short-term rentals by the property and the rules move, so we verify the current licensing and the HOA policy before you count on the income.
