Telemark Lodge at Copper Mountain
Telemark Lodge is one of the more practical ways into Copper Mountain. It is a lodge-style building of studios and one-bedrooms built in 1984, near the West Village side of the resort, with a cozy feel and quick access to the lifts. What sets it apart is the fee structure. Several Telemark units carry no Village at Copper master association fee, no transfer fee, and no short-term rental restriction at the HOA level. For a buyer focused on rental income or a simple first place at the mountain, that combination is worth understanding before you compare it to anything else at Copper.

Building type Older lodge-style condo (1984) |
Location Near West Village, quieter side |
Ski access Close to Woodward Express & American Flyer |
Best for Rental-focused & value buyers |
The quick take: Telemark is a value and rental play more than a trophy address. The units are compact, the building is older, and it sits a little back from the Center Village action. In exchange, several units offer one of the cleaner fee and rental setups at Copper. The work here is in the unit-by-unit details, because the fees and rental rules are not identical across the building.
What Telemark Lodge is, and who it fits
Telemark Lodge belongs to Copper's older, lodge-style generation, built in 1984, so the interiors lean cozy and practical rather than modern: studios and one-bedrooms with fireplaces and wood finishes. This is one of the more accessible ways into Copper, and it is a straightforward unit to rent. What really sets Telemark apart is not the finishes, it is the fee structure. Most of Copper's condo stock sits under the Village at Copper master association, which adds a second dues line on top of the building HOA. Several Telemark units are outside that, with no master fee and no transfer fee.
One of the biggest mistakes I see is a buyer comparing two Copper condos on nightly rate alone without comparing the fee structures underneath them. At Telemark, the fee side is often the whole story. Pair no master fee and no transfer fee with no HOA-level rental restriction on several units and you have a building that pencils differently than most of the mountain. That makes it a strong fit for a rental-focused buyer or someone who wants a simple, value-priced base at Copper. It is less of a fit if you want room to spread out or you want to walk out the door into Center Village dining.
The honest read: the fees and rental rules vary unit to unit inside this building, so the "no master fee, no transfer fee, no rental restriction" combination is real but not automatic on every unit. Do not assume a specific unit qualifies until you have checked it. Before you compare Telemark to another Copper condo, get the exact master-fee, transfer-fee, and HOA rental position for the specific unit. That detail, not the nightly rate, is usually what decides whether the numbers work.

Location and ski access
Telemark sits near West Village, close to the Woodward Express and American Flyer lifts, so you are onto Copper's terrain quickly, and the American Eagle lift out of Center Village is a short distance away as well. West Village is the quieter, more low-key side of the resort, near the Union Creek beginner area. If you want to be in the middle of Center Village dining and nightlife, you will feel a little removed here, and for a lot of buyers that quiet is exactly the point. The real question is whether you value the calmer setting and the lighter fee structure over walk-to-plaza convenience.
Building and amenities
|
Parking and access A heated underground garage plus surface parking and elevator access, with ski and bike storage on site so gear does not have to live in your unit. The HOA is self-managed, and owners tend to speak well of it. |
Comfort and extras An indoor hot tub with changing rooms, on-site laundry, an owner's closet, and an outdoor deck with a gas grill and a grassy backyard. Interiors lean cozy and lodge-style with fireplaces and wood finishes. |
Short-term rentals at Telemark Lodge
Copper Mountain is in unincorporated Summit County, so short-term rental licensing runs through the county rather than a town program. A license does not transfer to you on sale, so you apply as the new owner. Several Telemark units note no HOA-level rental restriction, which is part of the draw here, but that is a unit-by-unit fact rather than a building-wide guarantee.
Before you rely on rental income from a specific unit, confirm the current requirements on the Copper Mountain short-term rental rules page and read that unit's HOA documents. The rules matter more than any projection.
Telemark Lodge: pros and things to consider
|
Pros Several units with no Village at Copper master fee and no transfer fee. No HOA rental restriction on several units, which is strong for rental income. Studios and one-bedrooms make it one of the more accessible entry points at Copper. Heated underground parking and a self-managed HOA owners speak well of. |
Things to consider Fees and rental rules vary unit to unit, so confirm the specific unit rather than assuming. Near West Village, a little removed from Center Village dining and nightlife. Mostly studios and one-bedrooms, so less room than a townhome. Built in 1984, so verify updates, reserves, and finishes. |

Considering buying or selling at Telemark Lodge?
I work the full Copper Mountain market and can walk you through how Telemark Lodge units compare on fees, rental position, and price before you make an offer. Which units carry the master fee, which are truly unrestricted for rentals, and how a specific floor plan rents all matter here, and getting them right is the difference between a smooth purchase and an expensive surprise.
