Anaconda at Copper Mountain

Anaconda is where I send buyers who want real space at Copper without stepping up to the newest, priciest product. It sits in East Village near the Super Bee lift, it was built in 1973, and the units run larger two, three, and four bedroom layouts rather than compact studios. For a buyer who wants room to spread out, and who is open to a building with some age and character, Anaconda can be one of the more approachable ways into a larger Copper unit. It is worth understanding how it actually lives before you compare it to anything else on the mountain.

Best for

Buyers who want space at a workable entry point

The quick take: Anaconda is a space play. You are buying a larger, older floor plan in a quieter part of the resort, near the Super Bee lift, often with a wood-burning fireplace and room to sleep a real group. The finishes vary a lot from unit to unit, so the work here is in picking the right one. If square footage and a manageable entry point matter more to you than the newest kitchen, start here.

What Anaconda is, and who it fits

Anaconda dates to 1973, and that is exactly why the floor plans are interesting. Instead of the compact, repeatable layout you get in the newer Copper condos, Anaconda runs larger two, three, and four bedroom units, roughly 959 to 1,670 square feet. Some are laid out on two levels with vaulted, natural-wood ceilings, several have wood-burning fireplaces, and the extra room gives an owner options: a bunk area, an extra sleeping nook, or a work corner that a smaller unit simply cannot fit. The age shows in places, but the space is real and it is hard to find at this end of the Copper market.

One of the biggest mistakes I see is a buyer assuming an older building means a compromise. At Anaconda it is more of a tradeoff. You give up the turnkey, matched finishes of the newest product, and in exchange you get more room, more character, and a lower point of entry into a larger Copper unit. For a buyer who wants to host a group or run a rental that sleeps more heads, that space is the whole point, and it is what a renter is paying for when they book a place this size near the lift.

The honest read: Anaconda is a 1973 building, and finishes run all over the map from unit to unit. Some have remodeled kitchens and baths and a private washer and dryer, others are more original and will want work. That is not a flaw, it is the reason the entry point can be more approachable here than in the newer buildings. The key is going in with clear eyes about which unit you are actually buying. I can help you tell a solid, updated unit from one that only looks good in photos.

Location and ski access

Anaconda sits in East Village, the quieter end of Copper. The high-speed Super Bee lift and the East Village day lodge are a short walk away, which puts you close to Copper's steeper Alpine terrain without the bustle of the core. In summer you are right across from the first tee of the Copper Creek Golf Course, with the tubing hill and JJ's nearby. Center Village, with most of the dining and the main lifts, is a short walk or a quick shuttle ride. If you want to be in the middle of the action, Center Village is busier, but for more space and a calmer setting near a strong lift, East Village is a good fit.

Building and amenities

Space and layout

Larger two, three, and four bedroom floor plans, roughly 959 to 1,670 square feet, with no small studios. Some units run on two levels with vaulted, natural-wood ceilings, and several have wood-burning fireplaces. Heat is electric baseboard.

Amenities and parking

A common outdoor hot tub, a dry sauna, and ski storage on site. Parking varies by unit, from an assigned garage space to surface parking, so confirm what conveys with the specific unit you are looking at.

Short-term rentals at Anaconda

Copper Mountain is in unincorporated Summit County, so short-term rental licensing runs through the county rather than a town program. A license does not transfer to you on sale, so you apply as the new owner. A larger unit near the Super Bee lift can rent well because it sleeps more heads than the compact condos, which is part of Anaconda's appeal for rental-focused buyers.

Before you rely on rental income from a specific unit, confirm the current requirements on the Copper Mountain short-term rental rules page and read that unit's HOA documents. The rules matter more than any projection.

Anaconda: pros and things to consider

Pros

Larger two, three, and four bedroom floor plans with room to spread out. Quieter East Village setting near the Super Bee lift. Character features like vaulted wood ceilings and wood-burning fireplaces in some units. Common hot tub, sauna, and ski storage. Often a more approachable way into a larger Copper unit.

Things to consider

This is a 1973 building, so condition varies widely from unit to unit and some will want updates. Bath count does not always match bed count, so check the layout. It is a short walk to the lift rather than true door-to-slope. Confirm parking and the fee picture on any specific unit.
